Protein Enables Discovery Of Quantum Effect In Photosynthesis, Ukyla Johnson

http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2007/05/070502120327.htm-

There is a protien called a taco shell protien. It's ribbon like protien wraps around three clusters of seven chlorophylls, just like a taco shell around ground beef. The protein, comes from a photosynthetic bacteria that lives in extremely high, high temps. Teh taco shell is the most studied protein in a photosythesis. Researchers refer to this as the antenna system. That is molecules thta efficiently transfer energy from light in a cascade.

What is the chemical equation for photosynthesis?
CO2+H2O+Light Energy=(CH2O) +O2

What organelles are involved in this process?
Chlorplasts and Ribosomes

List three things you learned from this article in your own words.
I learned that they transfer energy through wavelengths with extreme accuracy. I learned that in the many areas of pahse space can be sampled effectively to find the most efficent path for energy to pass.

What impact would the absence of this process have on the biosphere? It would cause a world wide wipe out of many people and plants because they wouldn't have any food or carbon dioxide to breathe. Also the animals would die as well.
