New Insight Into HIV Infection

Link: http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2007/05/070504131255.htm

Summary:Scientist have found a new way to fight against AIDS. Scientist learned that HIV infects the nucleus of a cell by carrying its DNA to the cell nucleus. The viral DNA mix with the cell DNA, this creates more proteins that make new viruses, and then spread to other cells. The way in which HIV is spread throughout the cell by entering the nucleus may provided a way of limiting the spread of the virus to other cells.

Questions:
What is the major function of this cell's organelle? To carry the DNA of the cell and instructions of the cell.

Which cell types have this organelle? Eukaryote Cells

List three things you learned from this article in your own words. I learned that with father studying the HIV may never turn to AIDS in some cases. I learned that HIV spreads by making proteins that infect the cells. I learned that by silencing certain genes scientist decreased the production of the HIV producing proteins by three times less.

What impact would the absence of this organelle have on the cell? The cell would not function or have codes for the DNA structure.
