Summary: An endangered butterfly called the Sand Mountain blue buuterfly is becoming extinct. it only exists at Sand Mountain in a county called Churchill. It lives on a host plant called a Kearney buckwheat.
Questions: Why is this species endangered? their habitat has been destroyed off-road and the population is declining because of the people around them(humans destroying them).
What could prevent this organism from going extinct? The butterfly could keep from becoming extict by being put in wildlife habitat. Or someplace like a zoo to keep it from becoming extinct.
List three things you learned from this article in your own words. 1. I learned about a new kind of butterfly. 2. I learned why it is becoming extict. 3. I learned about what the butterfly lives on(type of plant).
What impact would the absence of this organism have on its ecosystem/community? The impact that the butterfly would have on the ecosystem or community is the butterfly population would decrease and there wouldn't be anymore.
