Link:http://environment.newscientist.com/channel/earth/mg19225804.800-how-planet-earth-turned-green.html

Summary:In this article photosynthesis is portryaed as th reason Earth was formed. About 2.3 billion years ago the Earth was covered with a thick coating of ice. When strong oxidants were released(due to photosynthesis) the frozen ice thawed out. Strong oxidants were released into the ocean and the atmosphere.

Questions:Photosynthesis
What is the chemical equation for photosynthesis?6 H2O + 6CO2 --> C 6H12 O6 +6O2
What organelles are involved in this process? Chloroplasts
List three things you learned from this article in your own words.
1.Photosynthesis is a vital process in living things on Earth
2.Photosynthesis was involved in the formation of the Earth
3.The Earth was covered with ice before photosynthesis interferred
What impact would the absence of this process have on the biosphere?The Earth would have limited oxygen supply
