Melting Ice Displaces Walruses In The Russian Arctic, Ukyla Johnson

http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2007/11/071126143646.htm-

Walruses have been spotted in on the Russian Artic coast. They have been spotted on this coast because of the melting of the Artic Sea ice. They need the ice to support them because they can't swim constantly but need to stop after foraging for food. The sea ice thickness has been reduced by 40 percent siin the last 30 years. Rhey are saying in 2080 the artic sea will be completely gone in the summer months.

What are some ways this phenomenon could be stopped? If people stopped using so much co2 in the world it would probably calm down a little and all the ice would stop melting. Secondly if they planted more trees to make photosythesis it would suck all the co2 out of the air and produce oxygen.

Is there anything you could do to contribute to the reversal. I coould tell my mom to stop riding around town so much and try walking to the close places. I could also tell my mom to make my brother ride the bus instead of riding in the car all the time and burning all that gas.

List three things you learned from this article in your own words. I learned that walruses need the thick ice to support their weight. I also learned that the artic ice that is melting is reducing their environment. The last thing I learned is that all the ice doesn't have to melt then but could melt before2080.

What impact would the continuance of these process have on the biosphere? It could cause the whole world to over heat and cause aquatic life to die because of the temperature change.
